St Peter Port will host a full schedule of events on Liberation Day which requires a considerable amount of infrastructure to be built. Some roads and parking areas will be impacted throughout the week to accommodate this and a variety of road closures and parking suspensions will be in place.
Please note the Military Vehicle leg of the Cavalcade will be travelling from the Vaugrat Campsite from 14.00 and the Floats from Longue Hougue at 13.30. The Cavalcade will work on a rolling closure and we would strongly advise people to avoid driving the route of this during these times as you may be subject to delays and/or diversions. To help keep things moving smoothly, we encourage people to use active travel options like walking, cycling or taking the bus wherever possible. If you are driving, please allow extra time and check for any temporary restrictions before setting off.
Liberation Day is a day for everyone to commemorate and celebrate our freedom, and we want to make sure no one feels left out. That’s why there are plenty of services and activities available in Town, tailored to different needs, so you can enjoy the day with the right support in place.

Will there be any blue badge parking?
Blue badge parking will be available at Havelet and in the parking bays on the north side of the access to the North Beach car park. Marshals will monitor these areas. Please display your blue badge in your car as normal.
The seafront will be closed on Liberation Day from the Slaughterhouse to the Weighbridge. To access Havelet Bay please use the Val des Terres. To access North Beach please use St Julian’s Avenue or come along the seafront from the north.

Will there be seating to watch the Parade in the morning and/or the Cavalcade in the afternoon?
There will be 500 seats at the bus terminus for the duration of both the Parade and Cavalcade, which will be available on a first come first served basis. This area will be marshalled by volunteers who will ask those wishing to use the seating to be mindful of those who need it most.
There will be a small number of accessible seats outside Town Church by the Victor Hugo seat, available for those with limited mobility and wheelchair users
The Parade will be inspected on the seafront from 11.00. The parade will march along the seafront at approximately 11.40, turn at the Slaughterhouse roundabout and return to the Town Church for the Liberation Service at 12.00.
The pedestrian Cavalcade will start from Salerie Corner at 14.30 and walk along the seafront to the Slaughterhouse roundabout and return along the seafront. The vehicles will arrive at Salerie Corner at 15.00 and follow behind them.
Some vehicles will peel off and form a static display on the Albert Pier and the rest will return to Salerie Corner.
I use a wheelchair, is there a dedicated space for me?
An area at the bus terminus will be reserved for wheelchair users, carers and sunflower lanyard holders. There will also be limited space outside the Town Church by the Victor Hugo seat.
Will I be able to sit down anywhere?
North Beach: there will be tables and chairs available int he food and drink village where you can also enjoy live music and entertainment from midday to 22.30
Crown Pier: there will be a small amount of seating provided on Crown Pier within the children’s zone
The Albany (Bus Terminus): a tea tent will include seats for 150 people where you can enjoy a cup of tea and slice of cake, courtesy of The Old Government House, supporting GROW Limited.
Will I be able to watch the Church Service?
The Church Service will be live streamed in the Tea Tent on the Albany at 12.00. Seating will be available on a first come first served basis. Blue badge parking will be available at Havelet.

Is there any provision for those who experience sensory challenges?
On Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 May between 10-11am, the fair ground rides on Crown Pier will run a free 'Quiet Hour' where music and lights are reduced for those who experience sensory challenges.
